Elon Musk news - Elon Musk May Cut More Twitter Jobs; Reinstates Trump's Account

Who's Elon Musk

Elon Musk is a business magnate, entrepreneur, and inventor who has transformed the electric vehicle industry and pioneered innovative businesses in space transportation, renewable energy resources, artificial intelligence technology development, digital payments systems and more. As CEO of Tesla Motors (TSLA) , he led the company to become one of the most valuable automotive companies in the world. Additionally, he founded SpaceX with several goals including enabling humans to colonize Mars. Finally,, he also established The Boring Company as an infrastructure solutions provider for cities.

Elon Musk was born on July 28, 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. He got his BS from the University of Pennsylvania (1991), MS from Stanford University (1993).

Elon Musk is a visionary and entrepreneurial innovator who has changed the way we think about technology, transportation, energy production, and more. He is the founder of SpaceX (the first private American space company to send someone into orbit), Tesla Motors (the world's leading premium electric car company), SolarCity (one of America's largest solar power providers), and The Boring Company (a tunnel construction business). In addition to his incredible businesses, Elon also chairs two companies that are developing breakthrough technologies: Neuralink and OpenAI.

The likes of Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, and Howard Hughes are just some of the American business icons that have been likened to him because of his charisma and business acumen. In October of 2022, he was reported to have a net worth of $212 billion, making him the wealthiest person in the world.

Elon Musk Chilhood

Elon Reeve Musk, the eldest of three kids, was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1971. His mom was a Canadian model and dietitian, and his dad was a South African engineer.  When Musk's parents split up in 1980, he largely resided with his father. His son would grow up to call his father "a terrible human being...almost every awful thing you could possibly conceive of, he has done."

A bad upbringing was the norm for me. Growing up, I had a lot of challenges. Later, Musk would comment, "One thing I worry about with my kids is that they don't confront enough difficulty."

Musk, who had a difficult childhood due to bullying, attended the exclusive, English-speaking Waterkloof House Preparatory School (he started a year early) before moving on to Pretoria Boys High School. Not surprisingly, he didn't have much luck making friends in social settings where he was expected to read.

Achieved Results Quickly

For Musk, technology eventually became a means of evasion. At the tender age of ten, he learned the basics of computer programming on a Commodore VIC-20, an early and affordable home computer. Musk quickly learned how to program and made the Space Invaders-esque video game Blastar. He made $500 off of a PC magazine by selling them the game's BASIC source code.

An important event in Musk's early life occurred when he and his brother hatched a plan to build a video game arcade close to their school. It was a bad idea, and their parents made them know this.

The Time Musk Spent in College

Musk immigrated to Canada when he was 17 years old. As a result of his mother's Canadian ancestry, he would become a citizen of Canada.

When Musk arrived in Canada, he immediately enrolled at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. There, he met the aspiring author Justine Wilson. They were married and had five sons (twins and triplets) before splitting up in 2008.

In the U.S.

Musk attended Queen's University for two years before transferring to Penn. He double-majored, but his college experience wasn't all study and no fun. He acquired a 10-bedroom fraternity home with a friend, and they turned it into a makeshift club.

Musk holds a BA in Economics from the Wharton School and a BS in Physics from the California Institute of Technology.

Both majors prepared Musk for his future work, but physics was the more formative.

Later, he would comment, "(Physics is) an excellent foundation for reasoning." Reduce complex issues to their simplest elements and work your way up to a reasonable conclusion.

Achievements Worth Mentioning

When Musk was 24, he uprooted his life and headed west to earn a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford. However, with the rise of the internet and the prosperity of Silicon Valley, Musk began to fantasize about starting his own business. After only two days, he dropped out of the Ph.D. program.

Using $15,000 and some support from his younger brother Kimbal, Musk launched Zip2 in 1995 as a web software startup to assist newspapers in creating online city guides.  Zip2 was bought out by Compaq Computer Corp. for $341 million back in 1999.

Musk founded X.com, an early finance company using funds from the company's takeover of Zip2.  The company that resulted from the merger of X.com with the money transfer company Confinity is today known as PayPal.

Although Musk did not serve as CEO of PayPal after being removed from that position by Peter Thiel before to its $1.5 billion sale to eBay (EBAY), he nonetheless benefited from the sale because to his 11.7% ownership in the firm.

In an interview from 2018, Musk said that his PayPal earnings were over $180 million after es.  "$100 (million) went to SpaceX, $70 (million) to Tesla, and $10 (million) to SolarCity. And I had to take out a loan just to pay the rent."

Musk repurchased the X.com domain name from PayPal in 2017, claiming emotional significance.

Elon Musk Tesla

In 2004, Musk joined Tesla Motors (then led by engineer Martin Eberhard) and other investors, with a total of $6.3 million in funding, to develop and market electric vehicles. In 2007, after a number of conflicts, the company replaced Eberhard as CEO with an interim leader until Musk took over. Tesla, under his leadership, has become the most valuable automaker in the world.

After purchasing SolarCity, Tesla has established itself as a major player in the solar energy industry, in addition to its primary business of manufacturing electric automobiles.

There are now two rechargeable solar batteries made by the firm. A bigger Powerpack is designed for business or electric utility grid use, while the smaller Powerwall is meant for off-grid or emergency use in homes.

Elon Musk Spacex

Musk founded Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), a rocket developer, using the majority of the money he made from his PayPal share. Musk claims he invested $100 million towards starting SpaceX in 2002.

SpaceX, led by Musk, has won many high-profile contracts to design space launch rockets from the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the United States Air Force.

Musk has announced his intention to work with NASA to send a human to Mars by 2025.

Elon Musk bought Twitter

Musk, a prolific Twitter user, admitted he owned 9.2 percent of the company in April 2022.30

Twitter's response was to offer Musk a seat on the board, an offer he accepted before turning down a few days later.

Musk then proposed to purchase Twitter for $54.20 per share in a "bear embrace" letter he delivered to the company's board.33

To prevent Musk from amassing too large of a stake in Twitter, the board enacted a "poison pill" provision, but eventually approved Musk's bid after he disclosed $46.5 billion in committed funding for the purchase in a securities filing.

Musk sought to get out of the contract in July 2022, saying that Twitter had reneged on providing promised details on false accounts. To force Musk to finalize the transaction, the firm filed suit against him.

The billionaire's attempt to purchase the social media network finally went through on October 28, 2022, after months of legal fighting. Musk then assumed control of Twitter.

Characteristics of an Individual's Own

Musk smoked weed while being interviewed on camera for a podcast on September 7, 2018.

A month before, Musk tweeted his now-famous plan to take Tesla private, along with the assertion that he already had the necessary funds.

Following the tweet, Musk paid a $20 million fine and Tesla paid a $20 million fine to settle a complaint filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alleging that Musk intentionally misled investors with the tweet. Musk also agreed to have Tesla's lawyers review and approve any future tweets containing material corporate information before they are published.

Musk has asked a judge to vacate the agreement reached in that case's consent decree, which he did in March 2022. Musk referred to the SEC officials overseeing the matter as "bastards" during a live April 2022 TED Talk.

Everyone has their opinion on Elon Musk. However, generally speaking, people who are critical of Musk tend to believe that he is too focused on his own self-promotion and does not care about the negative impact that his actions may have on others. Some even go so far as to say that he is a madman with little regard for the safety of those around him.

Elon Musk is known for his ambitious projects and relentless pursuit of innovation. He also has a reputation for being egotistical, which can sometimes get in the way of his success.

However, many people admire how he always manages to put himself in situations where he can learn and grow from them. For example, after Tesla's Model 3 sedan initially had quality issues with its welds, Musk was forced to take the time to learn about welding himself so that he could understand why these problems were happening and make necessary remediation adjustments.

Similarly, when SpaceX ran into difficulties during its final launch of Falcon Heavy—the most powerful rocket currently available—Musk took it upon himself to undergo extensive training in order to master all aspects of rocketry so that he could improve future launches.

In both cases, it was clear that Musk was willing or even eager to put forth effort on behalf of his company and achieve greater results.
